Silent Hill 2 Has Officially Been Beaten By a New Horror Game
The Silent Hill 2 remake is no longer the fastest-selling entry in the franchise, having been beaten by Silent Hill f. The newly debuted game cleared 1 million sales several days sooner than Silent Hill 2.
Developed by Taiwanese studio NeoBards Entertainment, Silent Hill f was released on September 25, following a brief early access period available to Deluxe Edition owners. The game has been near the top of Steam’s bestsellers chart ever since, and has also appeared in the trending sections of the PlayStation and Microsoft Stores across multiple major markets.
Silent Hill f Launch Sales Outpace Silent Hill 2 Remake
Konami has now framed the game’s success with some official figures, stating that Silent Hill f already cleared 1 million units sold. While the company initially tweeted that the milestone was reached on September 27, it later corrected the date to September 26. With 1 million sales in 24 hours, NeoBards’ title has convincingly dethroned Bloober’s 2024 game as the fastest-selling entry in the Silent Hill franchise. For reference, the Silent Hill 2 remake took three days to reach the same milestone, and has 2 million confirmed lifetime sales as of January 2025.
Silent Hill f offered a 48-hour early access period for Deluxe Edition buyers, meaning it technically took three days to hit 1 million sales. However, an identical incentive was attached to the higher-tier edition of Bloober’s game, which was available in early access from October 6 and then launched globally on October 8, 2024. Counting early access, the Silent Hill 2 remake took five days to sell 1 million copies, meaning the two-day gap between the milestones persists no matter the measuring stick.
The new launch sales record highlights the series’ growing momentum and suggests the franchise is currently experiencing peak popularity. A secondary factor that contributed to this achievement is broader platform availability; while the Silent Hill 2 remake was (and still is) a PS5 console exclusive, Silent Hill f launched simultaneously on both Sony and Microsoft’s current-generation consoles.
