Hideo Kojima Horror Game OD: Knock Has Serious PT Vibes
Hideo Kojima has finally shown off his horror game OD: Knock with a creepy new teaser trailer that will likely remind fans of PT. PT, despite not being a full game, completely changed the landscape of horror games. Developed as a “playable teaser” for Hideo Kojima’s canceled Silent Hills project, PT‘s intense scares and first-person perspective had a big impact on the genre, inspiring a number of copycats over the years. PT‘s popularity is why many fans were excited when Kojima announced that he would be working on a new horror game called OD, but little has been revealed about the project since its initial announcement.
Previous OD reveals confirmed that Sophia Lillis, Udo Kier, and Hunter Schafer would be featured in the game, but little else. It was also confirmed that acclaimed filmmaker Jordan Peele, the director of hit horror movies like Get Out, Us, and Nope, would be collaborating with Kojima on OD. Now it seems that there are multiple OD projects in the works, with the Kojima/Peele project separate from OD: Knock, which features Lillis, Kier, and Schafer.
This is according to IGN, which is the streaming partner for the “Beyond the Strand” event celebrating 10 years of Kojima Productions. One of the first big reveals of the event was footage of OD: Knock, confirming the horror game’s subtitle and revealing that it will share a lot in common with PT. The footage depicts a first-person horror game, where the main character enters a creepy, photorealistic room, and then makes their way to an altar of candles. They start lighting the candles with matches, which seems to trigger sound effects and other happenings. It’s possible this is hinting at the kinds of puzzles that might be featured in OD: Knock, but that remains to be seen.

The video ends with a mysterious figure entering the room, much to the horror of Sophia Lillis’ unnamed character. The figure grabs Lillis’ head to end the teaser. Based on what’s been shown so far, OD: Knock looks like it will greatly appeal to PT fans, though there’s still a lot we don’t know about the game. No platforms have been announced yet, but it is being published by Xbox Game Studios. It’s possible it will be an Xbox console exclusive or a day one Xbox Game Pass game, but if so, that has yet to be announced. All we know for sure is who is starring in the game and that it is being built with Unreal Engine.
Silent Hills‘ cancellation still stings for many horror fans, so it’s great to see Kojima tackle the genre again. We don’t know when OD: Knock will be released, but here’s hoping more information on that front comes sooner rather than later.
